IS IT HALLOWEEN YET?

Title: “Why Summer is the Worst and Halloween is the Best: A Pumpkin-Spiced Love Letter”

Ah, summer. The season of sunburns, sweat, and sand in places sand should never be. Some people seem to thrive in this sizzling, sticky inferno, but I, my friends, am not one of those people. As I sit here, melting like a popsicle in the sun, my mind drifts to cooler, spookier times. That’s right—Halloween! The glorious, ghoulish gateway to fall and all things pumpkin spice.

Now, before you summer lovers come at me with your tiki torches and sunscreen bottles, hear me out. Summer has its moments, sure. But let’s be real: it’s a mosquito-infested, heatstroke-inducing nightmare. Here’s why Halloween (and by extension, fall) is the real MVP.

1. The Weather

Summer: “Come outside,” they said. “It’ll be fun,” they said. And then BAM! You’re sunburned, dehydrated, and swatting away wasps like you’re in a kung fu movie.

Meanwhile, fall: The air is crisp, the leaves are crunchy, and you can finally break out that cozy sweater that’s been crying in your closet all year. No more sticky sunscreen or sweating through your clothes. Just pure, cool bliss.

2. The Attire

Summer: Flip flops and tank tops. SMH!. Not to mention the horror of swimsuit shopping. Every summer, it’s the same ritual of squeezing into spandex that reveals every burrito you’ve eaten since Christmas.

Fall: Flannels, hoodies, and boots. It’s like wrapping yourself in a warm, socially acceptable blanket. Plus, who doesn’t love a good costume? Whether you’re a sexy cat or a zombie cheerleader, Halloween gives you the perfect excuse to dress up and be someone (or something) else for a night.

3. The Activities

Summer: Barbecues and beach trips, which sound great until you remember that sand gets everywhere and mosquitoes and flies are plotting their next attack.

Fall: Haunted houses, corn mazes, and pumpkin patches. You can carve pumpkins, jump into piles of leaves, and sip on hot apple cider without turning into a human sweat puddle. And don’t even get me started on horror movie marathons. Bring on the jump scares and spooky stories! SCARY GODMOTHER HERE I COME!

4. The Food and Drink

Summer: Popsicles grilling and lemonade, which are fine but not life-changing.

Fall: PUMPKIN. SPICE. EVERYTHING. Lattes, muffins, cookies, you name it. It’s like fall took a pumpkin, hugged it, and turned it into pure, delicious magic. And let’s not forget about caramel apples, hot chocolate, and all the hearty soups and stews that make you feel like you’re being hugged from the inside. Pumpkin Bisque soup!

5. The Vibe

Summer: Everyone’s trying to one-up each other with their beach bods and vacation pics. It’s exhausting.

Fall: There’s a sense of coziness and togetherness. It’s the season of gratitude, reflection, and, of course, spooky fun. Halloween decorations transform ordinary houses into haunted mansions, and there’s a general sense of mischief and magic in the air.

Conclusion

So, dear readers, as I sit here, drenched in sweat and daydreaming about cooler days, I ask you to join me in celebrating the unsung hero of the calendar year: Halloween. Let’s embrace the fall foliage, the pumpkin spice, and the spine-tingling thrill of spooky season. Together, we can make it through this summer slap in the face heatwave and emerge on the other side, ready to carve pumpkins and drink lattes to our hearts’ content.

XOXO

Patti
