Like stepping into a warm kitchen on a cold day
Reading this book felt like being wrapped in a soft blanket with the smell of something sweet baking in the oven. I loved Poppy from the very start. Her doubts, her love for her grandmother’s legacy, and the way she slowly opens up to the idea that maybe there’s more to baking than just skill really touched me. The magic wasn’t flashy, just gentle and believable, like the kind you feel when everything comes together perfectly. The mystery had a nice build, and I enjoyed the second-chance romance too, though I wish we had just a bit more time with Ben. Still, it left me smiling and hungry for lavender soufflé. Patti? When will there be more books in this wonderful series?

Sweet, magical, and full of heart
This story hit all the cozy notes I love. The small-town setting felt so real, like a place I could walk into, and the relationships were layered in a way that made me care about more than just solving the mystery. Poppy’s inner conflict between science and her family’s intuitive magic made her feel very real to me. And her mom? Absolutely stole every scene. I guessed some of the mystery early, but I didn’t mind. What mattered more to me was watching Poppy find her footing and maybe even find love again. I’ll be back for the next one without question.
Comforting with a hint of spice

There’s something so comforting about this book. Poppy’s bakery felt like a character of its own, full of memories and gentle magic. I loved the way baking was used to explore emotion and connection, and the little magical touches made it feel like there was something deeper going on beneath the flour and sugar. The mystery kept me curious, and the romance was slow but satisfying. I’m usually not a fan of stories with a lot of inner conflict, but in this case, it worked. You can feel the love the author has for this world, and that makes a big difference. I can’t wait for the rest of the series!

Good fun
This book was such a good and fun read. The women led by the intrepid and completely fabulous Daisy are strong, independent and unique characters as well as having the determination of a group of rabid bloodhounds! The murder victim which shows up on the first page starts off the story with a bang and the plot moves forward with that same pace. I really enjoyed this story and hope that there will be more featuring this great group of women.
